President’s letter

In today's marketplace, how do we at the NHCC set ourselves apart from other organizations? We provide answers in talent development!

With shrinking budgets, downsizing employee base, depreciating assets and an uncertain future, there is one asset that appreciates with time and that is Human Capital. Investing in talent development will enable companies to stay competitive and sustain profitable growth as they continue to face difficult economic times.

In the midst of the storm, companies need to invest in human capital because the cost of replacing a highly talented employee is much greater than the investment made to sustain and/or develop that individual. Talent development comes at a cost; however, without investment there is no return that can be measured. Developing a multi-cultural workforce will increase diversity and inclusion, but it also increases innovation, cultivates a mission-driven organization, and can reduce turnover. Individuals that feel vested in the company are more productive and more engaged.

Our members know first-hand the benefits they receive from their involvement with the NHCC. We provide timely resources needed to meet the challenges in an ever-changing and fast-paced business environment. Our reformatted bi-annual member conferences provides a deep dive across key responsibility areas to help managers, directors and executives continue to be prolific in business. Our webinars provide desktop learning to membership to enable continued success in the workplace during difficult economic times. Our unique Corporate Executive Development Program (CEDP) with Professor Miguel Quinones at SMU, an expert in the field of human resource management as well as organizational development and change, has helped to develop highly talented and capable Hispanic executives on their journey to Fortune 1000 executive C-Suites. We round-out the member experience by providing information housed at NHCC resource library.

However, one of the most valuable assets of the NHCC is its membership. They drive the content for our work and keep us relevant. The NHCC is considered a partner working with companies to succeed, for this reason that we remain relevant in the discussion of talent development and maximizing the Hispanic market.

In today's world, information is power and we provide the tools needed for our members to get the edge in business as we work with them to recruit and retain talent, but more importantly, sustain growth in a multicultural workplace.

I thank you for your involvement and look forward to a very successful year!
