The Advisor, Multicultural Communications serves in a strategic role within the ALSAC communications team, directly impacting influencer engagement within multicultural audiences through 1:1 communications, media relations and value-based strategies and tactics while working with stakeholders and subject matter experts across the organization on the creation and execution of audience-specific communications plans.
The Advisor, Multicultural Communications will collaborate with a range of colleagues and support the development and delivery of a variety of reporting outputs designed for Executive and Senior leadership use. He/she functions with a large degree of autonomy to lead critical strategic initiatives for the organization as assigned by the SVP of Communications & Marketing Operations, the VP of Communications, the Senior Director, Communications, the Associate Director, Communications and/or other internal stakeholders from across the organization.
Reporting outputs will include a mix of regular recurring reports and ad hoc reports that range from daily, weekly, quarterly and annual, to seasonal, situational and topical-based reports. The role inherently includes responsibility for project planning, time management, analysis, and execution for data and information-based intelligence projects.
Responsible for providing strategic counsel and execution in the functional areas of media relations, digital public relations, field operations public relations and/or executive visibility on behalf of ALSAC/St. Jude with an emphasis on building relationships with Hispanic, African-American, Asian-American and Arab-American influencers. Leads and manages the development of plans and materials to build awareness in paid, earned, shared and owned channels as well as enhance the public image of St. Jude among these multicultural audiences.
Knowledge ordinarily acquired through a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Business, Marketing, Communications or related field plus 7-9 years of experience preferably at an agency, client-side and/or news organization.
R equires both written and oral fluency in English and Spanish.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Requires knowledge and familiarity of media relations, digital PR, local market engagement, executive visibility, organic social media, advertising, and online and offline media.
Knowledge and working within the tenants of the PESO model is essential.
An understanding of research, analytics and marketing mix methodologies.
A focus on results that deliver compelling campaigns that fuel audience engagement and support.
Possesses and utilizes strong communications skills on subjects such as media publishing, business intelligence, influencer acquisition, brand analytics and strategic objectives, and is able to deliver information through clear and concise communication tools and language. Multi-language candidates are preferred.
Actively listens and uses appropriate communication styles to deliver information in an articulate, understandable and engaging way. Influences others to accept a point of view, gain consensus or take action. Keeps leaders informed about key issues.
Works effectively and professionally in a team environment, negotiates priorities and timelines and maintains composure under deadline pressure. Recommends, initiates work and follows through on projects with minimal directions and/or ambiguous situations. Performs essential job functions in an established office environment under normal control tolerances.
Understanding of key Six Sigma principles preferred.
